Job Overview
MOKSHA Indian Restaurant & Bar is seeking a skilled and passionate Tandoori Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in Indian cuisine, particularly in preparing authentic tandoori dishes. This role involves overseeing the preparation and cooking of traditional tandoori items, ensuring high-quality standards, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. The successful applicant will have strong leadership qualities and the ability to manage kitchen operations efficiently while inspiring team members. Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of authentic tandoori dishes, including meats, vegetables, and bread, adhering to traditional recipes and presentation standards
- Supervise food production processes to ensure consistency, quality, and safety standards are met
- Manage kitchen staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure smooth daily operations
- Oversee food preparation activities, ensuring timely delivery of dishes during service hours
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety regulations and hygiene practices at all times
- Assist in menu development by suggesting new tandoori recipes and improving existing dishes
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and supplies, placing orders as necessary to prevent shortages
- Ensure the kitchen area is kept clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety regulations
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery
- Proven experience in Indian cuisine with a focus on tandoori cooking; restaurant experience is highly desirable
- Supervising experience within a busy kitchen environment
- Strong knowledge of food production, preparation techniques, and food safety standards
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively
- Excellent culinary skills with a passion for authentic Indian flavours
- Experience in hospitality or restaurant settings with a focus on customer satisfaction
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of quality
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail in food presentation and hygiene practices
- Flexibility to work during peak hours including weekends if required
- Minimum Level 2 Food & Hygiene Certificate.
£38,700 per annum
